Doctor Update

Really I have so many things to share--and pictures to post of the neat new things I have gotten recently. But I have been so overwhelmingly busy that I haven't been able to keep up. But I did want to share with everyone that I went into the doctor yesterday for my weekly appointment and everything is still good. She is still head down--but still very high. She was so high that he actually did a 2 sec ultrasound to make sure she was still head down because he couldn't tell by touch. Unfortunately two second ultrasounds don't come with pictures :(.

But anyway, she does not seem to be in a huge hurry to join us which is good because she still has two weeks to stay where she is. In two weeks I am sure I will be fully ready for her to come out. :)

And I will post more fun stuff as soon as I have two seconds at home to play with pictures and such.

Gifts for Danica

My coworkers gave me a baby shower today--and actually totally surprised me. I really thought that we were just having an advisors meeting until I walked in and the whole room was decorated in Winnie the Pooh and everyone was yelling surprise. It was a little shocking. I will have more pictures of the actual party next week--my friend is buring me a cd of pictures. But today I thought I would share pictures of all of the cute things that my friends bought for Danica. And here is a little closer view over everything:

To sum up, we got a few blankets, a few outfits, pacifers, a crib soothing machine, a diaper bag, lots of toys (including a pooh dressed up as piglet--it is too cute), a couple of different keepsake/memory books, a kit of first aid items, and a couple of pairs of slippers.
Overall it was a super fun party--a great end to a very crazy and busy week. And a lot of fun to open lots of fun stuff for Danica.

Week of Good News For Corey

In case you didn't know--Corey is a huge Miami Dolphins fan. He has followed them since he was like 5 probably younger. He thinks Dan Marino is the most wonderful football player ever--or at least in the top 5. And to top this off--he despises the Patriots. With a passion he hopes they lose each and every week so he doesn't have to hear about them being a dynasty or wonderful or whatever. So this week started off fabulously for him--the Dolphins demolished the Patriots (38 to 13 in case you missed it). So Corey has proudly been wearing this hat all week.

Now in this photo you may also notice that Corey is wearing a new uniform. Corey has officially left Corrections. He wanted something safer and preferably closer to home now that Danica is coming soon. Today he officially finished his training--and got this certificate to prove it.

And starting on Monday he will be delivering packages for

He couldn't be happier. And that wraps up this segment of a week of good news for Corey.

Doctor Update

I went to the doctor today. Danica is still head down (thank goodness) and still a little high. But overall everything looks good. And her heartbeat is still the most beautiful sound in the world.

In talking to his mom, Corey learned that he and his brother were both 17 days early--yikes that would ruin my plan to get the entire holiday season off. But in talking to my dad, he and I were both late (he was like 20 days late). I am hoping that together these will even out and she will be right on time. Isn't that how these things work?

Hope everyone else is having a day full of fun and exciting news like this. :)

Tired Kitty

I am guessing that Brandy has been jealous that I have been writing about Danica almost all the time--which has left no time to write about Brandy. So to ensure that she got her proper place on the blog Brandy decided to make our night interesting. About 11pm Corey thought he heard thunder, so he opened our front door to see if he could see the storm. Yep you guessed it--Brandy bolted out between his feet. So Corey spent a good 20 minutes trying to find our black kitty in the dark (not fun). Then he came in for a few minutes. He went back to the door and found Brandy at the edge of the house looking at the door. He walked out, pointed at the door and told her to get in the house. She sneakily walked towards the door and then suddenly bolted through the house. She spent the rest of the night crying at the front door--she wanted back outside I guess--or at the bedroom door--she wanted Corey to forgive her.

Either way she has spent the morning sleeping--it is very tiring to go running outside and then through the house.

So now she has her post in the blog. I guess I will have to pay more attention to tell you more about our little "darling" to ensure she doesn't do anything like that again. :)

Down to the final month

One of my cousin's has already warned me about focusing on my due date--that it isn't uncommon to go past your due date particularly with the first baby. Well I have to say that my coworkers would be thrilled if I was at work an extra week--as happy as they are for me, they are not excited to be down an advisor during the registration period. Anyway, I am still going to mark the today's occasion as being exactly one month until my due date. With her crib set up and her infant car seat and stoller assembled I feel content and excited. Things are starting to fall into place and the house is starting to look like another person will be living here soon. Of course Brandy does not seem to be excited about the prospect of the family changing--she is a resentful that she lost her room since we don't let her roam freely throught Danica's room. But I suppose she will have to get over that or I will have lots more to write about Brandy later.

I went to the doctor yesterday and found out that Danica has flipped to a head down position--so all the discussion of whether she was backwards because of Corey or if she was stubborn because she is a Nicoll do not have to come to a solution--at least for now she cooperated with what the doctor wanted. No more talk of a c-section for the moment. Of course the part of her that is up (I will let you supply the word for that body part) is invading my rib cage--and that is no better than having her head invade my rib cage.

So now I have to start planning for diapers and such--and waiting.

Thank You to the Grandpas-to-be

Corey's dad and my dad each gave us the money to get a great gift for Danica--her infant car seat and stroller. So now we can take Danica home from the hospital!! Which is a good thing considering that she is due in just over a month. But it doesn't seem like she is doing much towards moving into a head down position--I swear her head is still invading my rib cage. But I will have more info tomorrow after my appointment. For tonight, look at her cute car seat and stroller that Corey got to put together on his day off. Wasn't he lucky?

Isn't she lovely...isn't she beautiful

Corey and I went to my ultrasound appointment on Thursday--we would have posted pictures earlier but our scanner was not behaving so Corey had to get it working first.

Danica is very healthy. She is practicing breathing. Her heart, brain, stomache and kidneys all look healthy. And as you can see from this picture her spine looks good too:
The person told us her placenta is in a good location and that her umblical cord looks very healthy as well. She was very thorough which was wonderful.

They took her measurements--she is currently 4 pounds 14 ounces. They expect that she will be between 7 and 8 pounds when she is born. And we could see that she has hair on the ultrasound (this is very exciting for me since I was the baby who didn't have hair until I was like 2 years old). But Danica has so much hair we could see a curl in the ultrasound--unfortunately we didn't get a picture of that.

We also got to see a great view of one of her feet--and we were even able to count her toes. It was so much fun but we didn't get a picture of that. We did get another very cute picture of her profile. Ahh we are in love.

Danica was also a lot more cooperative for this ultrasound--she was looking up instead of at my spine. And this ultrasound person asked our permission to practice using the 3D ultrasound machine since she was new to this office and not quite used to the setup. So we got to get a couple more 3D pictures--and these show that Danica probably has Corey's nose. And that she is the cutest baby we have ever seen.

Corey also got to hear the heartbeat for the first time--and his face lit up. I don't think he was quite expecting it to be as neat as it was.

The only downside was that Danica was full breech--so I wasn't making it up when I said her head was invading my rib cage. She still has a couple of weeks to start moving to a head down position before they really start worrying. But if she doesn't the doctor went over the possiblity of c-section. So we are hoping she is more cooperative and starts moving around.

Gifts for Baby

Tuesday we had our cousin's dinner--if you weren't there you should have been because it was a lot of fun. But aside from that my Aunt Shirley gave Danica a few more gifts that I just had to share because they are so cute.

The outfits are so cute--and Danica also got a hat, washcloths and extra sheets for the crib. Danica will love them. :)
